BABGOC (Bali, June 12, 2008) - Between 6th to 8th of June 2008, BABGOC marked another significant milestone in its organization of the Asian Beach Games with the highly successful staging of the Chef de Mission Seminar at the Ayodya Resort Bali - the official headquarters hotel of the Games.
With four months before Games kick off, top OCA Officials, Chef de Mission, future Asian Games organizers and Guests gathered in Bali to be part of the crucial CDM Meeting.
It was a focal point for Bali Asian Beach Games Organizing Committee and the Asian Beach Games as it validated all the arduous work and effort put into the preparations for the Games as operational work plans of the various BABGOC Directorates were presented to and discussed with the Delegates from all over Asia.
Out of the 45 Asian countries, 41 nations were well represented with 41 Chef de Mission, 9 Deputy CDM and 6 Third Delegates attending the CDM Meeting. Bhutan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and India officially sent their regrets.
Also on hand to oversee the BABGOC’s preparation for the event were twenty top OCA Officials, which included the OCA Director General, the OCA Vice President for Southeast Asia, nine OCA Executive Board Members and six OCA Headquarters staff, one of which was from the Olympic Solidarity Movement and two were from the OCA Congress Commission.
Thirty members of four OCA Standing Committees, namely: Athletes, Sports and Environment, Culture and Education and Women held their committee meetings to coincide with the event.
Eighteen delegates from four future Asian Games organizing committees, namely: Guangzhou Asian Games 2010, Haiyang Asian Beach Games 2012, and Incheon Asian Games 2014 were also present as observers, while the Singapore Asian Youth Games 2009 not only observed but made a presentation of their preparations.
